My Eye's on You
I begin by collaging worn book pages onto a wood cradle board, allowing their history to become the first layer. From this surface, a woman slowly emerges—her name is Lola. Like all my figures, she carries a long neck, and one eye drifts slightly off-center, a subtle disruption that gives her presence. I apply thin veils of paint, letting words and fragments of text breathe through the surface. The background is shaped through repetition: sanding, painting, then sanding again. Each cycle leaves a trace, until the image feels resolved.
