Fade to Black
The second in my original Fragmented Memories series.
Once more, a face that was dearly loved begins to dissolve at the edges. I search for what should be certain—what color were her eyes? Was it blue, or green, or something in between? Or is it simply that age has thinned the clarity of recall? I cannot tell whether memory betrays me or time itself is to blame.
Whatever the reason, the quiet unspooling of the mind lingers like a shadow. This painting emerges from that unease—a meditation on forgetting, and a tender resistance to it. Each fractured plane is an effort to gather what remains, to steady what trembles, and to hold—if only briefly—what time is determined to loosen from my grasp.
