Angkor Wat: A journey to enlightenment
This began as a “forever painting”—a practice in which each day for a month, something new must be added, no matter how the work feels. Some days I painted; other days I layered fragments of painted paper, letting them whisper beneath the surface.
On the thirteenth day, I reached for an orbital sander and surrendered to chance. Slowly, shapes began to rise from the layers, evoking memories of a recent journey to Cambodia, where we wandered among ancient, sacred ruins. I continued to sand and scrape, letting unexpected forms appear. With paint and ink, I refined some areas, leaving others raw and untamed, until three monks walking toward the holy place emerged, quiet and eternal.
